                    New Player Information

  • Paying your fees at a match:

    • Each time you play, you need to pay the required fee to your team’s MSIS Representative.  Please pay with cash or a check made out to the host club.  No credit cards!  Only Team Reps are permitted to pay for the match in the pro shop.  Individual players ARE permitted to make other purchases in the pro shop.

  • The game we play:

    • We play Stableford points based on your net score.
      • Net double bogey or higher (includes all pickup holes) = 0
      • Net bogey = 1 point
      • Net par = 2 points
      • Net birdie = 3 points
      • Net eagle = 4 points
      • Net double eagle = 5 points

  • Determining winners:

    • The top four teams at each match receive merchandise certificates.  The amounts of the certificates are predetermined based on the number of players.  A chart of payouts is on the web site at http://jaxsi.org/rules.htm.

    • Places are determined by the highest 7 of 8 Stableford point totals for each team playing in the match.  Ties are broken by using the best 6, best 5, best 4 etc. until the tie is broken.

    • Note: New players are limited to 38 total points in any one match.  A player is considered new until he has completed three rounds in MSIS play.  After three rounds a new player will have an established MSIS Handicap Index and he is free to score as many points as he can.

  • USGA Rules apply. See the web site at http://jaxsi.org/rules.htm for a few minor exceptions.

  • How we keep score: (See sample below)

    • Do not keep your own official scorecard.  Exchange cards within your foursome.  The scorekeeper and player must both sign the card.  The player is responsible for accuracy and legibility of HIS card.  At the scoring table, when in doubt, we use the highest number we can read.
    • On each hole, in the box where the handicaps dots are located, enter the player’s GROSS score.
    • Enter a zero (0) (but not an “X”) on all incomplete (pickup) holes
    • Totals and Stableford points MAY be entered on the card but NOT in the gross score box
    • Stableford points and stroke controlled gross scores are computed by the committee after the match.  Please keep legible scorecards to facilitate computer data entry.
