Minutes Minutes of the Team Reps Meeting February 2005
Minutes of the Men's Senior Interclub Series
Team Reps
February 7, 2005 at Deercreek CC
The meeting was called to order at 10:05 am
by Barney Poston who acted as moderator.
In attendance were Team Reps Roy Gulick
(Magnolia Point), Joe Power (Eagle Harbor, proxy for Warren Healey), Dan
Meinert (guest from Palencia), John Lopiano (Palencia, proxy for Alan Porter),
Earl Strickland (Orange Park), Dave Spring (Marsh Creek), Jim Bryce (Oak
Bridge), Jack Parrish (St Johns), George Halvorsen (Marsh Landing), Carl
Arnold (Hidden Hills), Bill Emminger (Jacksonville G&CC), and Russ Campbell
(Osprey Cove). Deercreek was not represented.
1) A motion to increase our monthly event
rates from $40 to $45 effective in 2006 was made and approved unanimously.
In conjunction with this motion it was agreed that each Club will be paid the
same amount per player. Also, along with the increased rate we will request
improved lunch fare of our member clubs.
2) A motion to pay the additional $5
(from item 1 above) entirely to our
member clubs was made and approved unanimously. (Note:
there is no change to our prize fund fee nor to the handicap fee)
3) A motion was made to break ties for the
Brady Cup as follows: If two or more teams tie for the Brady Cup, the team
that was leading in the standings just prior to the Brady Cup match will be
awarded the cup. This motion was approved unanimously.
4) A motion was made and approved unanimously
to change the way our yearly standings are computed as follows. Yearly
standings will be based on total team
Stableford points from each monthly
match.
5) A motion was made and approved (Oak Bridge
voted 'No') to change the way our monthly event winners are determined.
Effective with our first match in 2005, all eight (8) scores will count. If a
team plays with only 7 (or 6) players, their 'eighth man' (and 7th if
applicable) will be awarded the same number of Stableford points as was scored
by the poorest performer in the field that day.
6) A motion was made and approved (Oak
Bridge abstained) to reinforce the
USGA rule that scorecards be correct and signed by the scorer and the player.
Effective with the first match in 2005, the scoring staff will reject all
scorecards that have not been signed by the scorer and the player and
scorecards that do not have Stableford points totaled. If the missing
information is not provided in a timely manner, the player will be
disqualified and given zero points for the day. If an
error on a scorecard
awards too many Stableford Points on any given hole or in
the Stableford points total, (he) the player will
be disqualified. If a card has an
error on the scorecard
that awards too few Stableford Points on any given hole or in
the Stableford points total, the erroneous
score will stand.
The host professional or the MSIS Tournament
Chairman will stress this new rule during the 'before' play announcements for
the next several months until our players become aware of the rule.
We also recommended that Team Reps emphasize the importance of correctness of
scores and Equitable Stroke Control to their team's players.
7) It was decided that the addition of any
new member clubs must be approved by the Team Reps who will be notified by
phone or email by the Scheduling Chairman. It was felt by all that we could
go as high as 15 member teams (120 players) but it could be a problem seating
that many for lunch at some clubs.
8) It was decided to try to make the Brady
Cup match a little bigger deal. Holding the crowd until the Brady
Cup is awarded is a priority. We may try door prizes (must be present
in order to win). The Team Reps agreed to help solicit a prize from their
club for this purpose.
Respectfully submitted,
Barney Poston
