Monthly Newsletter August 2007
To all MSIS Addressees,
Nice
day at JGCC..... if you like it HOT! The course
was in great shape though..... but they didn't
give us the easy pin positions that I asked them
for.
Thanks to
all the people who helped out at JGCC.
That includes Head PGA Pro Ray
Barr, and
Assistants
Anthony and Sonny. Team Rep Ray
Fox, Roy Gulick, John Pujol, Larry
Von Dolteren, Mark Good, Wib
Finch, Bill Gesdorf and Skip Lunsford. Wasn't
the food just great? If we could only get that
quality out of all clubs.... wow.

SCORECARDS
The big problem with
scorecards this month was that three of them
were never turned in!!!! Can you imagine????
NEVER rely on a cart boy to turn in your card!
When your card is not turned in, we wait five
minutes after the last score is recorded on the
scoreboard and then we give you the equivalent
of the lowest score of the day.
Better
legibility
this month but keep working on it.
When you players sign your card for correctness,
you also need to look and see if it is legible.
When we cannot figure out what a number
is, we usually opt for the higher
number. You should be concerned about that. It
could cost you a victory.
Only
one card had "X"s on it!
You are always requested NOT to use "X"s for
pick-up holes. Always use a zero..
There are
two simple but effective rules to follow:
1) Player
completes a hole - Enter actual gross score
2) Player
picks up - Enter a zero
but NOT an 'X'
nor an adjusted score
Remember
the computers will make all adjustments and
convert zeros to the correct adjusted score but
. . . . . . . the computer cannot work with "X"s.
NEXT MONTH
The Country
Club of
Orange Park, Monday Sep
17, 9:00 am

many questions that are asked of me can be answered right
here at www.jaxsi.org.
Our handicap system is a hot top right now. All the
information about our handicap system is on the web site
except the whys and wherefores. Write or call me if you

ARTICLES
Articles of interest to
MSIS members are accepted and will be published in this
report. Just email your article to me. You must sign it.
I am sure that you all
see or hear things at our matches that would be of interest
to us all. Funny stories about things that happen on the
course. They don't have to be the absolute truth! Brag
about a great hole you played or a great shot you hit. Here
again, you may stretch the truth. Write them up and send
them to me. It would make this a much more interesting
publication. If I don't get some input on this publication
soon, I will assume no one cares about it and it will be
discontinued.
Best wishes to Aubrey
Daniel (HH) and George Halvorsen (ML) two of our players who
are currently ailing.
