Monthly Newsletter December 2007
To all MSIS Addressees,
The
wind blew and the temperatures dropped. It was about 38
degrees at tee time and maybe 50 when we finished. In spite
of that, 125 of 128 players finished 18 holes. It must be
the Men's Senior Interclub playing at Sawgrass! The golfing
obviously wasn't up to our usual standards but there
were some pretty good rounds played. The courses at
Sawgrass East-West were immaculate as always and the lunch
of salad, macaroni and cheese, barbequed chicken, pulled
pork, salmon, cheese cake..... made the ordeal well worth
it. What a deal! We could get spoiled easily.
Thanks to all the people who helped
out at Sawgrass.
That includes Ed
Tucker (Head Pro), Chris Thompson
(Assistant Pro), Glenn Dobrick (Team
Rep), John Pujol, Mark
Good, Dennis McCarthy, Steve Wyand, and Tom
Petrie.
Special thanks to Roy Gulick,
Scheduling Chairman, who did a
perfect job of filling in for me in
my absence.
WINNERS
1. Sawgrass
CC took first place with a score
of 241.
Sawgrass was led by 38 points
from Tom Petrie. Everyone on
the Sawgrass team scored 31
points or more.
2. Jacksonville
G&CC took second with 232
points. Wib Finch led the JG
team with 38 points. JG gained
29 points on Orange Park, giving
themselves and outside chance at
winning the Brady Cup next
month.
3. Ponte Vedra G&CC took 3rd
with 227 points. PV was led by
Jim Bryce's 41 point
performance.
4. Queen's Harbour took fourth
place with a score of 224. QH
was led by Bill Bremner and John
Pujol who each had 36 points.
Orange Park had a poor day and
the standings tightened a bit.
Marsh Landing now trails Orange
Park by 52 points. Magnolia
Point also had a bad day but
they still have an outside
chance of winning the trophy.
Don't forget, Stableford Points
are doubled at the final match.
The top four teams; OP, ML, JG,
and MP, will be paired together
at the Brady Cup match. In the
event the match is canceled,

NEXT MONTH
Deerwood
Country Club, Monday January
7, 2008, 9:30
am shotgun.
Annual Team Reps meeting. Date and
time TBD. If you have items you
want to discuss, tell your Team Rep
and we will add them to the meeting
agenda.
BRADY CUP MATCH
The Brady Cup
match will be played January 7, 2008
at Deerwood Country Club. At this
match the top four teams in the 2007
standings will be paired together.
Also, the points for the match will
be doubled. That gives a few of
you a
chance to catch the
current leaders Orange Park.
We like to give lots of door prizes
after this match. I am soliciting
donations. I need your help. Get
what you can. We always have lots
of rounds of golf. How about more
merchandise prizes this year. Or
dinner coupons, golf clubs, new
cars, hotel or resort stays, golf
balls, trips to Hawaii..... use your
imagination. It would be nice if we
could get at least one donation from
each team.
This is our
10th anniversary. It should be
special.

WEB SITE
Working
well now but we
had a few problems this month. The roster
submittal form went down due to maintenance by
our host. They
denied responsibility. It was fixed in time for
the rosters. Thanks to all who reported the
problem.
Get your
players to sign up for MSIS emails. There is a
sign-up form near the bottom of the home page at
www.jaxsi.org with electronic
submittal....... very easy. Members won't see
these newsletters unless they get on our email

There is lots of
information on
the web site and many questions that are

SUBMITTED ARTICLE
(none from you
guys this month)
ARTICLES
Articles of
interest to MSIS members are accepted and will
be published in this report. Just email your
article to me. You must sign it.
I am sure
that you all see or hear things at our matches
that would be of interest to us all. Funny
stories about things that happen on the course.
They don't have to be the absolute truth! Brag
about a great hole you played or a great shot
you hit. Here again, you may stretch the truth.
Write them up and send them to me. It would
make this a much more interesting publication.
