April 2007

To all MSIS Addressees,

The wind was really howling for the match at Marsh Landing.  The wind didn't bother some players but it sure was tough on me.  The average gross scores was 91.3, which is actually a little lower than last month.  Director of Golf, Rob Kohlhass and Pro-shop Assistant, Blair did a great job for us.  The scorecards and scoreboards were perfect.  Thanks to Team Rep, John Arnold and the 3 other volunteers from Marsh Landing, Larry Holder, Dave Lehman, and George Halvorsen.  I thought the food was excellent. I heard no complaints from any of you.

WINNERS

First place was taken by Marsh Landing with a score of 246.  Marsh Landing was led by Don Roderique's 41 point performance.  Second place was taken by Magnolia Point, at 245.  Osprey Cove at 240 took 3rd place and, for the second month in a row, Queen's Harbour took 4th place with 239 points.

SCORECARDS

You scorekeepers did a fine job this month. Thanks for your help and cooperation.  There are still a few of you who are entering an 'X' when a player picks up.  Please use a zero (0) for ALL pick up holes.  There are two simple but effective rules to follow:

    1) Player completes a hole - Enter actual gross score
    2) Player picks up - Enter a zero but NOT an 'X' nor an adjusted score

Remember the computers will make all adjustments and convert zeros to the correct adjusted score but . . . . . . . the computer cannot work with "X"s.

Much thanks to all of those who helped out with the computer scoring at San Jose: Roy Gulick MP John Pujol QH, Larry Von Dolteren SN, John Arnold ML, Larry Holder ML, Dave Lehman ML, and George Halvorsen ML

Four errors were made at the scoring table.  One of the errors was caught and fixed at the match.  None of the errors affected the winning teams payoffs.

All of the official records have been fixed.  The standings and handicap indexes have been corrected on the web site.

FINANCIAL NEWS

Our Google AdSense account has generated $36.02 in revenue so far.  That amount is held in escrow until such time as it reaches $100.  At that time, Google will pay us in full.

We are paid for clicks on any of the Google ads.  When you are on our site, look the ads over.  If you see anything of interest, by all means check it out.  Also, when you need to do a search of the Internet, please go to our web page and search from there.  We are also paid for all Google searches from our pages.

Our web page sponsor First City Companies, Inc has renewed for another year.  They pay $76 per year for their ad.  That $76 has been placed in a savings account.  Please remember our sponsor if you need any roofing work.  At least give them a chance to bid and let them know where you saw their ad.

WEB SITE

Spammers found our 'Comments' page and were auto loading links to undesirable web sites.  I was having to erase their junk nearly every day.  The 'Comments' page wasn't very popular anyway so I have taken it down . . . . . . for now.  I saved all the old comments and maybe one day we will reopen it.

SAD NEWS

Our good friend Bill Meyer of the Ponte Vedra team has passed away.  Bill lived for 75 years.  Bill has the distinction of being the only MSIS player ever to be featured on our web site.  You may read what we know of Bill by clicking here.  Bill Meyer 1932-2007.  RIP.
