To all MSIS Addressees,

The day started out great..... when pulling into the Orange Park development there was a sign reading; "Welcome Senior Interclub players.  Have a nice day".  And we did just that.

Nice day at OP ..... if you like it WET!  The course was in great shape though..... and the food was wonderful.  It rained most of the day but the scores were outstanding considering the conditions.  I had heard a rumor that the greens were in bad shape at OP, but in my opinion they were the best greens we have played in a long time.  It is too bad that two teams missed this match.  Orange Park did a wonderful job for us!

Thanks to all the people who helped out at OP.  That includes Head PGA Pro Mike Wilsonand his assistant, Carlos.   Team Rep Gary Hill, Roy Gulick, John Pujol, Larry Von Dolteren, Mark Good, Roger Tedder, Jim Briska, and Bob Hubbard.  Wasn't the food just great?  If we could only get that quality out of all clubs.... wow.

WINNERS

See the web page by clicking here.

    Closest to the pin winners:
Jeff Ewell won a round for 4 at Orange Park
Craig Mielke won a round for 4 at Osprey Cove
Wib Finch won a round for 4 at Magnolia Point
Jock Ochiltree won a round for 4 at Hidden Hills

BESTS FROM  JGCC

Lowest gross score: 70 Bob Wildner MP, wow that is the first sub par round ever in my memory of MSIS matches.  Wonderful scoring Bob!
Highest point total: 47 Harry Statti on St Johns..... GREAT!  The handicap gods will not be happy with this!

SPEED-OF-PLAY

?  Not bad as I remember.

SCORECARDS

The cards were pretty good considering how wet they were.  Our biggest problem???? Getting signatures.  How hard can that be?

Also, we had lots of cards where one number in written on to of or under another number.  We don't have time to chase you all down so we opt for the highest number.  You should be aware of this.  Find a better way to make your corrections clear to us.  The competitor is responsible to make sure we can read the card.  Do not rely on your scorekeeper.  If you aren't happy with the card, fix it before you sign it.

NEXT MONTH

FINANCIAL NEWS

Our Google AdSense account has generated $82.28 in revenue so far.  It was $68.65 last month.  It is unusual for us to generate that much income in a month.  Keep up the good work.  That money is held in escrow until such time as it reaches $100.  At that time, Google will pay us in full.

We are paid for clicks on any of the Google ads.  When you are on our site, look the ads over.  If you see anything of interest, by all means check it out.  Also, when you need to do a search of the Internet, please go to our web page and search from there.  We are also paid for all Google searches from our pages.

Our savings account balance at Citi Bank is $127.52.

WEB SITE

Working well.  Check it out.  There is lots of information here and many questions that are asked of me can be answered right here at www.jaxsi.org.  Our handicap system is a hot top right now.  All the information about our handicap system is on the web site except the whys and wherefores.  Write or call me if you want the history.

Posting Senior Interclub Scores, Submitted by Roy Gulick, Scheduling Chairman

During the kickoff briefing at our August match at Jacksonville Golf and Country Club, Barney Poston reminded all players to post, at their home club, their ESC score as a tournament round.  Recently Barney and I checked postings at every member club to see how well MSIS players complied.  Only 40% posted their score as a tournament score.  41% didn’t post their score at all.  The bottom line is that we need to improve in this area.  The integrity of the USGA Handicap System depends on it.  The results are listed below by club.

ARTICLES

Articles of interest to MSIS members are accepted and will be published in this report.  Just email your article to me.  You must sign it.

I am sure that you all see or hear things at our matches that would be of interest to us all.  Funny stories about things that happen on the course.  They don't have to be the absolute truth!  Brag about a great hole you played or a great shot you hit.  Here again, you may stretch the truth.  Write them up and send them to me.  It would make this a much more interesting publication.  If I don't get some input on this publication soon, I will assume no one cares about it and it will be discontinued.
