MATCH DAY

It was nice weather at Queen's Harbour and Hidden Hills managed to come back after a very long absence from the winner's circle.

The course was in good shape for this time of year.  The food was good and the scorecards  were as we like them.  The scoreboard left something to be desired but all came out in the end.

We had another last minute roster change, the worst kind, and that gave us a few problems.  Other than that, a  good day.

SCORING

Thanks for all the help at Queen's Harbour.  Those who helped were Roy Gulick (MP)Larry Von Dolteren (SN)Mark Good (DC)John Pujol (QH)Glenn Dobrick (SG), Bill Bremner (QH)Ray Mantle (QH)Nick Kaufman (QH) and Steve Woodford (QH).

MATCH WINNERS:

Hidden Hills took first place with a score of 264.  Great job!  HH was led by 42 points from John Smith, and 41 points from Keith Hansen.

Hidden Hills had not won a match in 42 months.  Yep that's right, it was August of 2005 at Deercreek the last time Hidden Hills took first place.  It looks like Team Rep Larry Dismore may be building a fire under this team.

Sawgrass was second place with a score of 253.  SG was led by Chris Banwell's 41 point performance and another 40 points from Bill Fitting and Bart Robinson.

Third place was taken by Jacksonville G&CC with a score of 249.  They were led by 40 points from Skip Lunsford.

Marsh Landing, with a score of 248 was fourth.  ML was led by 40 points from each of  Rich Ezequelle and Gordon Knight.

SCORECARDS

Everyone turned in a scorecard after the match. Most of the scorecards were filled in perfectly and were very legible.

Only one scorecard had 'Xs' on it.  Please put nothing in the score box except numbers.  Those numbers must be the gross score for the hole or a zero for a pick-up!

We need to remember to NEVER stroke control a score.  If a player holes out give him what he took, even if it is ridiculously high.  If a player does not hole out, give him a zero (0)!  Our computers do all the stroke controlling.  If you do it, a player may get points where he doesn't deserve any.

SCORING:

We made one error at the scoring table this month! It had absolutely no affect on anything.

One thing YOU can do to help us is to check your score as we post it on the scoreboard.  If you suspect something is wrong, please report it to us.  We are always more than happy to 're-input' cards through our system.  If you notice an error and don't report it, it is just as dishonest as cheating on the course.  Remember, what goes around, comes around.

Another thing you can do is to make sure that your card is clear and legible.  Make sure it is signed by yourself and the scorekeeper.  Also, help us by being quiet around the scoring table.

NEXT MONTH

I am sure that you all see or hear things at our matches that would be of interest to us all.  Funny stories about things that happen on the course.  They don't have to be the absolute truth!  Brag about a great hole you played or a great shot you hit.  Here again, you may stretch the truth.  Write them up and send them to me.  It would make this a much more interesting publication.  Please help out.  Surely someone out there has an opinion or suggestion for the Interclub.
