We had good weather for the match at Hidden Hills. All 15 teams and 120 players were there for the battle.
THE BATTLE FOR THE CUP:
With three matches (4 scores) to go in the season, we have a very tight race for possession of the Brady Cup. Sawgrass still leads but they have lost some of their margin. Hidden Hills is only 13 points back, that pesky team from Jax Golf & CC is looming in 3rd place at 31 points back and Eagle Harbor is still close at 34 points behind the
leader. Marsh Creek and Deercreek still have a chance if they can finish strong. Others are still in the race, at least mathematically.
Don't forget, the last match of the season is played for twice as many points as a normal match so a lot of ground can be gained on the leaders! In the final match, the leaders will be paired together.
THE WINNERS
AT HH
WERE:
Jacksonville Golf & CC took first place with a
nice score of 263.
JG was led by Wayne St Clair with 40 points. He was helped by Bob Curry, Wib Finch, and Jim Trado, each with 39 points. These guys must be watched.... they are experienced winners and always tough at the end of the season.
The host team, Hidden Hills, took second place with a score of 258.
These guys are sneaky good and have been hovering near the top all season. Can they do it? HH
was led by Bob Whaley with 45 points and by
39 points from Ron Arledge.
Third place was taken by
Marsh Creek with a score of 247. MC was led by 42
points from Dennis Donahue and 39 points from Odie Skeen.
Eagle Harbor, with a score of 244 was fourth.
EH was led by 39 points from
Craig Milke and 37 points from Richard Galloway.

You
players did a very good job with the cards this month.
I only audited 1/3 of the cards but it appeared that the legibility was fair and I spotted no Xs on the cards. Thanks for your help on that.
We need to remember to NEVER stroke control a score. If a player holes out, give him what he took, even if it is ridiculously high. If a player does not hole out, give him a zero (0)! Our computers do all the stroke controlling. If you do stroke control a score, a player may get points where he doesn't deserve them because the computer will not recognize the fact that the score has been stroke
controlled!
SCORING
The scoring committee did an excellent job this month, we made only one minor error. That is fantastic when you consider the amount of data that we handle and all of the noise and hub-bub around us as we work.
There were some problems at the scoreboard this month caused by faulty scorecards (did not contain the two-letter team designators) and faulty scoreboard (had only one column for scores). It took a while for these problems to be worked out. Our
computer work was finished about 20 minutes prior to the scoreboard being finished.
I apologize for the delay. These problems have been discussed thoroughly at HH and they have assured us it will not happen again.
Thanks for all the help with the post-match scoring at Hidden Hills. Those who helped were Larry Dismore (HH), Glenn Dobrick (SG), Tex Blinn (HH), John Pujol (QH), Dale Gatz (HH), and Lou Schaefer (HH).
LETTER TO THE EDITOR: None
PRIZES....TIME TO SPEAK UP: Does anyone have any ideas about how our savings account money should be spent on prizes for the John Brady Cup match in December?
We have already purchased 3 dozen Pro V1's with TPC logos.
My current plan is to buy three $100 dinner certificates and an $800 certificate to a resort at Lake Lure, NC as I did last year. That plan is flexible.
We will also accept any prizes you guys can have donated to us. Deercreek usually donates a prize.
As last year, you must be present to win a prize. Each person will have one ticket in the drawing for each time they
played during 2009 season. Persons not playing that day, may attend the drawing and or lunch. In either event, they must make an advance reservation and pay a fee if they want lunch.
